Scrap Sari fabric from another culture - India, was the inspiration. The emphasis is on color, chaos and connectedness, which when looked for can be found the world over.
Time, Another Place, Discarded Sari fabrics and acrylic yarn hand sewn onto cotton substrate. Hand quilted and finished with mixed material felt as a nod to the Kawandi technique, 17”x15.75”
As an artist who has transitioned through a number of mediums, I find that I embrace the challenge each new medium or exhibition concept brings. My work usually conveys a story in a literal or abstract way. Spending a lot of time alone in my studio allows me the opportunity to get inside my own head and explore the oddities of life going on in there.
